Malgosia Le Bihan - "Stripes"
W: 600mm x H: 400mm
This work is unframed
On my visits to the Kruger I often wondered how the black and white zebra stripes can possibly be considered good camouflage? In the creation of this project I concluded that the most convincing answer is to create visual chaos in the eyes of the predator, in my case the appreciative spectator. Establishing the contour of each individual animal in the hazy midday sun from above had proven challenging.
I studied art in my formative years but only started experimenting with pastel art in the last 3 years. Of all the mediums that I studied and practiced I found soft pastels are best suited to my realistic style and love for detail.
