About "The Expanse of the Sea"
In this piece, I've captured the raw, mesmerizing expanse of the sea, its perpetual motion and the tranquil infinity of the sky. With each stroke in oil, I've embraced the essence of impressionism, seeking to ignite the soul's yearning for freedom and the profound depths of nature's beauty. This painting is more than a visual experience; it's an invitation to lose oneself in reflection amidst the undulating whispers of the sea.

About Mary
From a very young age I started sketching people, animals and the scenery around me.
Art was my favorite subject at school and I always achieved high marks for my art projects.
At age 14, I enrolled for my first course in sketching and line drawing at the ABC Art School in Paris. In those days I was living in Greece and the art school had a branch in Athens.
Later, when I could dedicate more time to art, I attended advance painting classes for four years developing and learning different styles and techniques from leading professional art teachers and another three years for abstract studies learning to think and express these thoughts and ideas in an abstract way.
Also, I studied the old impressionists and the later more modern works of art.
Artist statement:
When painting I always have a concept in mind taken from the world around me or from my very deep-set traditions of my Greek culture and history past and present. Also living in four different countries of diverse religions and cultures, through my growing-up years, has prepared me for a spiritual journey in which I can only express in my paintings.
Mary does many demonstrations for Art groups and clubs every year.
My preferred method of painting is with a palette knife. I like the clarity of the undiluted buttery texture of the paint and the sharp contrast of the different hues. I sculpture my shapes on my two dimensional surfaces.
