About "The Gift"

This is a very personal and symbolic painting. It is a close friend of mine and my niece and is called "The Gift". It represents the gift of life experience passed on from one generation to the next. The feather represents my father(no longer alive) who passed on many life gifts.

About Helen

Helen Blackbeard

As an artist, I am inspired by nature's beauty - in every shape and colour, and I am in awe of the exquisite detail of nature.
The following words by the mystic Meister Eckart, illustrate my feelings perfectly:"God is voluptuous and delicious."
Julia Cameron, of "The Artist's Way" fame, agrees: "I believe he was right. I believe in a festive God. I believe the Creator loves creativity. After all, somebody had an awfully good time making hibiscus blosoms, red clay cliffs, rivers, starfish, pine cones, coral snakes and stars. Somebody - or, if you prefer, Something - didn't know when to stop. Beetles exist in a myriad varieties. Butterflies, a little loftier, make it into high digits.....there was clearly a godly glee in creative excess, an artist in love with the materials themselves"
My dream is for people to respect nature in all its forms, and to treat all creatures with the compassion and dignity they deserve.
I hope my work shares with the viewer my love for nature, animals and special passion for cats.
