Reference T-48a About "Vickers Vimy London to Cape" This Vickers Vimy G-UA8A "Silver Queen" participated in the London to Cape Town Race in February 1920. It was piloted by Lt. Col Pierre van Ryneveld and Flight Lt. Christopher Joseph Quintin Brand. Unfortunately it crashed on take off in Bulawayo and the pilots continued in another make of aircraft. One of the engines of this aircraft is a static display in the Port Elizabeth SAAF MUseum. |
