Reference WCT3 About "Wet Cape Town Traffic #3" On my way to work in the winter mornings synthetic lights reflect bright red, amber, green and a multitude of cold and warm contrasting reflections. I, or my shotgun pilot teenage son, take random photographs through the windshield. As can be expected, only about 1 in a 100 can be edited and prove suitable as an oil painting. I work with a limited predetermined palette before I start a series of 24 works. There is specific personal symbolism to this: My birth date making me a Scorpio 8th Zodiac water sign. Coincidentally (and in this instance fittingly) element 24 is Chromium (Cr), a metallic element that can take on a high polish. |
