About Margie
I was born in Zimbabwe long ago.
I took art at School in the Transvaal. After attending Rhodes University and Johannesburg College of Education I taught from 1966 until 1999. My husband, Tony and I retired in 2000 to Montagu and in 2015 to Onrus.
Overwhelmed by the beauty around me I decided to try my hand at painting again. I joined the Shield School of Art. It was a turning point in my life! I wished the days away between my lessons. My eyes were opened to all the different mediums and methods that I had only heard about. I attend every art exhibition and work shop possible to see how others approach and see art. I also gain knowledge from art books.
I have participated in many group exhibitions and sold a moderate amount of paintings.
I have worked in different mediums and experiment continuously. According to the records I am an elderly lady, but I am still a young artist as there is so much to learn and discover. I am truly grateful to possess some talent.
My preferred subjects are mostly Landscapes or Seascapes, but also Still Life, Trees, Flowers.
