Reference zulu About "A Zulu Woman" Zulu is one of the native groups of South Africa. I lived in Natal for 4 years. During this time I was diagnosed with a terminal illness, which diagnoses turned out to be wrong after 5 years. Everybody around me waited for me to die, but it never happened. This sickness experience sent my life into a whole new direction for which I am forever thankful now |

I am inspired by colours that surround us reflecting the different emotions of people around me. My earliest memories of using art material is how I used water color to express the way I felt. As I think back I realize I found a way to express my emotions in color before I could verbalize them. This phase was followed by a natural process of drawing phases in pencil. I started drawing since I was a young child. As life unfolded I used different mediums to express myself. Currently I find myself in a phase where I express myself through abstract works. I found creating collages with different materials is an excellent way to express myself. In 2012 my dear cousin/sister invited me to join her in a Zentangle course on a Saturday morning. This three hour course led me on a journey of self-discovery. One where I can creatively destress on a daily basis within 10-30 minutes. In this way I can still work through my tangled thoughts, meanings and motives. In 2021 I discovered the modality of Neurographica art, which is an excellent way to work through difficulties in my life. Some interesting art works have been created of which you will find examples here. I found this method helpful to integrate left- and right brain functioning. This method was founded by a Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014 Price Range US$ 322-497 Exhibitions My works have been exhibited in my own home, shops in George, Plettenberg Bay, and Oudtshoorn in Western Cape. My paintings were also displayed on George Family Market. Education Dipl Recreational Art (Intec College) PhD Counselling People who chose Elize van Reenen's work also chose work by: Find other:
