About "Acceptance"

Like many women, I use the hardships in life as times of personal growth and have recently gone through another 'character building' experience! This work reflects a woman who has weathered the storm and has now reached the time of calm reflection. I use body language and subtle colours to convey the message and here the viewer can see her squared shoulders, her upright bearing and the calmness of one hand resting on her leg whilst the other is open in acceptance...

About Anny

I live fairly reclusively in an old farmhouse between the koppies in the klein karoo. The uncomplicated forms and monochromatic tones of this environment are the inspiration for the subtle colours I use in my pastel paintings.
I deify mother earth and all her living creatures, and that is possibly why my figures have an underlying spiritual quality. I revere the moments of quiet reflection when the song of a bird, the rustle of the leaves, the soft touch of a warm evening soothes the senses...This dreamy awareness of nature's caress shows in my work, which has been called sensual. And then there is my love of fabrics that gently enfold the form, delicate lace, soft velvet and loose drapes, often offset against the textures of weathered stone, old metal bowls or fields of grass...Sometimes the figures almost float in a dreamlike place where the mind is at peace.
I do commissions, but insist on meeting and getting to know my subject.
My work is exhibited at many galleries throughout South Africa and is represented in private collections all over the world.
