About "African Buffalo"

Africa and its wildlife is a part of my blood, and I paint them to keep me in touch with nature. This young buffalo is bellowing during mating season and the expression on his face is so intent you can almost sense him wanting to establish territory for his females.

About Barbara

I focus on creating energetic and expressive portraits on a fairly large format in oils and acrylics.
Many of my works now adorn the homes and offices of clients around the world. I have an intense fascination with colour, form and texture and try to capture this in whatever medium the moment moves me to use.I enjoy producing tactile works with the use of various materials such as hand made paper,beads, and metals with enamel, acrylic or oils, thus engaging the viewer not just with sight but also with touch.My works seem to have an energy of movement which is created with smooth satiny surfaces or raw texture, all of which is meant to force the viewer to look beyond surface appeal. I try to create works that allows the viewer to see new forms and colours every time they look at the painting. My works can sometimes lean toward the "Industrial", but this is balanced with the use of feminine colours.I also do fine art into which I enjoy adding design, and like to incorporate other mediums such as pencil, charcoal and ink. I am influenced to an extent by Celtic design, iconic symbols and Art Noveau which I like to modernise or adapt.
