About Jana

studied archaeology in the times, where computers were a future, I had to draw implements, pottery, geological profiles etc. on the excavated sites. I think, this practice help me with the general drawing of the picture, the distances and perspective, be it still life, figures or landscapes.
I am painting more than 15 years, I started with watercolours under teacher and painter Sue Kemp, who was at that time a chairman of the SA Watercolour Society. I had learned a lot under her 3 years tutelage.
I study under Barbra Poultney the oil techniques, as I love so much strong colours. My other teacher in JHB was dear Hester van Der Berg. I loved her classes, we were group of international students, what with several French ladies, English and Africans and me, Czech. After our retirements move to the George, I found a new home with Martie le Roux. This lady teacher is amazing with her knowledge and energy, I am very privileged to be her student and I think that my best paintings are under her tutelage. I am also the member of the South Cape Association Visual Arts.
