About "Arums and Lemons"

The contrast between blue and yellow equals the contrast between the sweet scent of Arum Lillies and lemons. The strong contrasts form the focal point and the painting is filled in a neutral grey. The blue brings calmness to the painting where as the yellow adds life.

About Norbert

Born in Brakpan, South Africa from german parents, I developed a fascination for replicating reality on a flat surface at a very young age and completed my first oil-painting at the age of ten under the guidence of Dianne Johnson Ackerman. Art as an income generator was never an option in those days and started a degree in Languages at RAU. Worked as landscaper for 17 years and was diagnosed with fast developing melanomas of a malignant nature, and had to minimise time spent in the sun. I took my art more seriously and never looked back. Started an art school to seed the joy and therapy of art with others.

In the Republic Of China I have been promoted as the story teller from South Africa. Every day real-life occurences fire up inspiration for my artworks. More than just a picture, I strive for my paintings to trigger feeling and emotion, whether in theme, colour or textures. An artwork should reach deeper than just the visual and should there for have therapeutic,emotional and psychological as much as artistic and visual qualities. I love colour and the psychologigal influences it carries, thus rests the impotance that my artworks have a versatility in theme, texture and colour depending on the mood,emotion or message I try to bring across. Due to my horticultural past I enjoy painting flora, my interaction with people - the everyday story telling, my free spirit - ladscapes, and colour psychology - abstracts.
I want viewers to enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy painting them.
There should be no boundries or limits to art... art is after all in the eye of the beholder.
