Reference brother Sun on Base About "Brother Sun" This sculpture was inspired by the traditional wooden African carvings that decorate functional items. Brother Sun and Sister Moon refers to St. Francis of Asisi and St. Catherine, for whom he had a deep love. Gold represents the masculine element and is traditionally associated with the sun. It is also a metal with strong ties to Africa and therefore suited to the piece. |
