About "Desert Climax"

Desert Climax stems from my deep affection for "Windpompe" (windmills). More over the Climax windmill is synonymous with farmers in South Africa and have become landmarks by themselves.
Returning from a trip to the west coast I saw a black and white photograph of a Climax and it begged me to paint it. But what came out was a surprise. My mind sees colour and my hand follows. My huge love for the West Coast flowers and its explosion of colour every August all along the Cederberg up to Nieuwoudtsville (Bulb capital of the world) is clear. My mind colourized the picture with all its flowers and also the water running over the edge of the reservoir.
I can now paint from memory and it is an experience every time I paint or create as my hand surprises me each time

About Emilio

Emilio Moon

I am 66 years old. I have never studied art or painting. I am a self-taught musician, songwriter, photographer, and tour guide, having the opportunity to travel, see, observe and remember. Returning from Croatia in 2012 I started drawing and upon inspiration of my wife I painted a windmill and the love affair started. My work flows from my memory onto canvas. My inspiration is creation in all its wonder. My driving force is color and vibrancy.
To paint is a new dimension of expression for which I am truly thankful.
