About "Eternal Truths"
I aim with my work to cause the viewer to think, to engage and try find themselves in the work. This work explores what I have chosen to name eternal truths, that God is Love, (7 artichokes), that God is an eternal 3 part being in our understanding (3 peacock feathers). The opposite of love is fear. Represented by the apple alluding to the fall of man, the first fear based action according to Christian mythology. Our short falls however pale in comparison to the loving embrace of an eternal God.

About Victoria
Having painted under the name of Vicky Riley for the past 7 years she has elected to revert to her maiden name of Stiff. Victoria is inspired by the world around her, and does diverse works depending on what has made her heart sing or cry at that moment. Emotion and contemplation of life, is often the catalyst for her work. She observes, thinks, and converts her opinion and observations into artworks. Art for her is the expression of the soul, which comes in many forms. All her work is done with precision. She is tireless in her quest for perfection. She is currently working mixed media, oil on various paper supports, maps, books, patterns. Found objects, that are a commentary on life, as we as humans have molded it. Her work endeavors to instill in the viewer a desire to engage with, question and understand the work. The use of everyday objects is intentional to allow the viewer to relate to the work. Vicky also finds expression in sculpture, which creeps into her portfolio in various forms. Most prominently at the moment as Ceramic frames, custom made for the work they house. She is constantly influenced by contemporary South African artists. The work of Caryn Scrymgeour has had a great influence on her, and was the springboard for her current portfolio of work.
