About "Farmer"
My friend Len is a retired sugar farmer from Kwa-Zulu Natal. He was squinting into the sun and I caught that image. This work gave me a deep admiration for the Impressionists use of colour.

About Sharon
I'm Sharon Bischoff and am originally from Port Elizabeth although I grew up and educated in Zimbabwe. I studied art at the Natal University of Technology in 1974-1978 (Higher Diploma in Art) and began my teaching career thereafter at various High Schools around South Africa.
The late '70's at the art colleges were literally times of artistic exuberance. Graphic design (silkscreen and printmaking) under many significant well known South African artists became a very creative environment, and now in hindsight my work definitely has hints of the many artists I admired.
Living in USA and travelling to the Far East gave me a taste of other cultures, thus knowing that on my doorstep South Africa I have an abundance of life drawing.
In the USA, I was fortunate to have a few art pieces displayed on the Governors' residence in Tallahassee.
On returning to South Africa I worked in retail and marketing and my involvement in many art disciplines through the years has allowed me work on a full time art basis. Although the Western Cape has recently become my new home, I am still an active member of a few art groups on South Coast of Natal.
I am a determined and creative individual and because of my experience as a teacher, like to believe I am a good communicator, am dedicated and passionate about my art and have developed a style which has given me a platform and direction for future works.
In 2017, I participated in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Society of Artists Members Exhibition (KZNSA ) in Durban and was placed first winning the Joan Emanuel family Trophy., with my drawing, "faka imaski ekusweni" In 2018, once again I entered the KZNSA Members Exhibition and won with another drawing "Sipolilo 1967"
Then, before leaving the Natal coast in 2017 I was again fortunate to have have received 2nd prize at the Riverbend Art and Wine Gallery Exhibition. This period was a time of growth for me as an artist.
The rich texture of acrylic paint and the gritty, sharpness of the lowly pencil, the vibrant colours of crayons are what excite me. People are fascinating and I want to put their lives onto paper. My portfolio of works covers all subject matter from rich landscapes of our wonderful heritage, to our people.
Recently, I've obtained a few commissions through a local gallery on the Natal South Coast which has given me a confidence to expand my portfolio of works.
