During the harvest season in the Boland, our wine country, we sometimes have temperatures soaring into the late 30s or early 40ºC. All you can do is lay down under a fan and wait for the sun to set!

I chose figurative rather than conceptual art as language to convey my personal interaction and interpretation of the world around, and inside myself.

My fascination with the human form reflects a perspective that the human body radiates divine light. I see human life not only as uniquely adapted to survive, but also as a vessel carrying the responsibility to heal, to love, to embrace.

My favourite quote is by a musician participating in the Play for change initiative: "Where there is great art, there is always heaven."
