About "Fire Element"

When painting mandalas I try to express a feeling inside. All my mandala work are spontaneous and there is no pre-planning involved. I follow the process described by Karl Jung in which he describes mandala painting as a 'doodling' process. I simply start and work with what I have just created to create the next thing, guided by a feeling of 'what works and feels real good'. I do this within a disciplined framework which follow natural laws so that the mandala is balanced and harmonious.

Therefore, one can say that the impression which the mandala creates when completed, and the title it holds, come after the painting is finished.

In this painting, Fire element, the constant duel energy of fire is felt as it creates and ends ongoing cycles of life. The painting has a slight African feel. The bright blue on the outer ring of the mandala symbolizes ice which is on the opposite end of fire. The spiral in the center represent the infinite flow of energy through creation and destruction.

The painting is block mounted and ready to hang.
