About "Floof Woof"

This is a portrait I did of our cat, Floof Woof. His coat markings are beautiful and seem to shimmer. He also always has the sweetest expression on his face, as if he is still thanking us for rescuing him. I wanted to capture his essence in a painting.

About Karlien

I started drawing and painting almost before I could speak and had my first art class at the age of 4. After falling in love with Gustav Klimt' works, as well as with Expressionistic paintings, I developed a strange style in high school that seemed influenced by these works.

Whilst I was studying (BA) Fine Arts they tried to put me in a box and asked me to make my work more realistic. I am not a cat, I do not feel the need to sit in a box :)

As I purely paint for myself, not because I want to but because I need to, I paint whatever and whenever I want and it is not influenced by current trends, just my thoughts or emotions.
