About "Flowers Under the Trees"

In springtime these flowers bloom outside the studio where I paint. It is a calm pretty scene which I enjoy looking out through the window to see. During the rest of the year the undergrowth is fairly plain but in spring it is a joy to see.
The flowers are various hot colours ranging from pretty yellow, to vibrant orange and intense red. To give the flowers a deep vividness they deserve, I have used thick impasto paint. I have given the undergrowth some vibrant greens to indicate the lush growth under the trees.
