This work is based on the recollections I have from childhood, when we visited a place called Retour. Nature and the bushveld at its most untamed and rugged, I was allowed to explore and discover the natural surroundings to my heart's content. I loved the landscapes, mostly the butterflies that graciously fluttered during the day and the moths that were attracted to the braai fire at night. This work evokes memories of family, friends, the intoxicating smell of a bushveld braai and the surrounding lemon trees in bloom, the awesome landrover rides, discovering the wildflowers, fruits and creatures in that exciting environment, memories that will remain with me for life.

My love of nature dates back to my very early childhood. This theme is evident throughout my work. God, Jesus and the nature They bless us with, are my pivotal inspiration.
The subjects I choose to paint are personally significant and often within my space. My works are depictions of my life story, fascinations and preoccupations, using various media.
