About Juanita
Many people will tell you how difficult it is to be an artist, what they will not tell you is how difficult it is not to be an artist....
I think I was born with a box of crayons in my hand, its all about colours for me...
I've spent most of my life happiest exploring some form of artistic expression...be it sewing, gardening, cooking, drawing, crafts, or writing... I taught myself calligraphy from a book with the right pen... and attempted the occasional painting... It was not until someone one very close to me urged me to pursue my talents further and start painting, specializing in a subject on which he is a guru... fresh and salt water fly fishing, that I earnestly developed a passion for painting. When I looked into, I was in awe and overwhelmed by the intensity and scope for expression through form and colour. These days it seems as if there are not enough hours in a day to paint as much as I would like to.
Having been in the hospitality industry, I am inspired by the colourful characters I encounter daily , and unquestionably the artists I relate to are Dali, Gaughin, Picasso, Georgia o'Keefe and my favourite Frida Khalo...I dream of one day travelling to Mexico to visit her gallery... (and maybe do some fishing...)
It was Van Gogh that said: " If you hear a voice within you saying 'you cannot paint', then by all means, paint, and that voice will be silenced!"
