About Charl

Charl Gräbe was born in 1970, and obtained a BA (Fine Arts: Information Design) in 1995.

This Johannesburg based graphic designer turned artist has worked and lived in Johannesburg, London and Cape Town. He does expressionist landscape and still life painting.

He explores multi-level landscape abstractions in his painting, and layered object collages in his still life pieces.

Charl has had three solo exhibitions since 2001. His work is represented in collections throughout South Africa, Brussels and the UK. He has been invited to exhibit at the Florence Biennale in 2003.
