About "Hands with Lotus"

This piece was inspired greatly by the symbolism and meaning of the lotus flower itself - representing growth and development of something beautiful and strong, cultivated from muddy waters. This was something I could strongly relate to. For me, the hands depict how this growth is nurtured both internally, but also through human contact, support and encouragement. The patterns and details lent themselves to the natural form of the overall image, with variations in symmetry and imperfections adding to the symbolism of the piece itself. This was a special piece for me to complete, and was one I loved doing!
