About "Himba Maiden"
Himba Maiden Bronze Sculpture by Izidro Duarte
With reverence and grace, Himba Maiden captures the strength and quiet dignity of womanhood rooted in cultural identity. This bronze sculpture presents a stylized yet intimately detailed figure of a young Himba woman, identifiable by her traditional skirt and intricately sculpted hair--hallmarks of the Himba people of northern Namibia.
The figure stands tall, stripped of excess, allowing the contours of the body and the symbolism of form to speak for themselves. The polished bronze surface reveals both the softness of youth and the resilience of heritage. Armless, yet far from incomplete, the sculpture emphasizes presence over action, essence over movement. It stands as a timeless tribute to ancestral tradition, female beauty, and cultural pride, bridging the figurative and the spiritual in one elegant form.
