About "I Went to Pick Flowers When These ..."

Flights of fantacy, the implausable, the impossible. Your brain has many chambers and when life gets too much, rooms filled with sensual, inexplicabilities make more sense. My pewter work is instinctual, immediate, an escape.

About Anita

Capturing humanity
My artistic expression is the physical manifestation – through the medium of paint on canvas, or impressions moulded in pewter or copper– of my inner dialogue.
Through the raw materials, my thoughts and perceptions and desires and observations find their voice, equivalent to my brain talking out loud.
The unique facets of my personal life experience are captured (and liberated) by the rendering of my art, and simultaneously there is a reflection of the female perspective.
Whether or not it makes sense is beside the point. The urgency to reflect is the artist’s imperative, often a painful or cathartic process, but also enlightening and invigorating.
In turn, a vessel is created that invites, from the audience, intense scrutiny and possible introspection, as they enter the intimate arena of the artist’s mind.
My work is an honest and uncompromised testimony to my way of thinking and a social comment, depicting a semblance of what it means to be human.
Frames of my pewter and copper works can be viewed on request.
