THE PAINTING IS INSPIRED BY A SONG SANG BY THE TRADITIONAL HEALERS IN THEIR RITUALS. THEY BELIEVE THAT THE WILDE GNU IS A DESCENDANT OF A GREAT OX THAT ONCE LIVED IN THE WATERS.

About Nqobile

My name is Nqobile Victor Mkhungo, an artist from Durban currently based in Johannesburg. Having completed an Architecture Diploma in 2010 at the Durban University of Technology, I’m currently employed as an architectural Technologist & 3D graphics impressionist.
I was trained as an artist under the mentorship of Diedre Harris, an artist based in Kloof from 2002 until 2006. However after matriculating, my passion for art drove me to another direction towards my career choice as I’m enthusiastic about design, with art being the center piece of it all. My philosophy in life as an artist is that sometimes we need to take a step back & reflect about where we come from because in order for us to where we are going, we need to know where we come from.
