About "Inspirational People"
I have had the honour of meeting Norbert Schling at Studio 14 in Cullinan. On this occasion I experienced him as an open outgoing person, willing to share himself and his knowledge with such openness that it surprised me. Norbert enjoys classical music, but when looking into this, I realised that this express Norbert much more than just a little part of his life. Classical music is totally in harmony when being orchestra as Norbert’s life is as well. The dragonfly was used to express courage and colour he brings to your life. Norbert had to walk through life, had to give up a few dreams but came to the point that he is living the life he enjoys. He had to accept changes in life, he had to show courage in various circumstances to accept the change that life had placed on his path, but he stepped out as a winner at the end of the day. Through faith he stood his stand and worked through all the negativity that life told him should be his, but yet still he stayed positive, he picked up his gear and showed the world that he would not give up. He had faith in what he is doing and the decisions they had to make. Everything he does is so full of passion, therefore the passionflower was used. Norbert very successfully entered the international market with exhibitions in Hamburg, Taipei, Singapore and the United States of America, but for the first time in South Africa exhibits his art at the Studio 14 gallery he opened in Cullinan just outside Pretoria recently. Norbert has a soft spot for cancer, due to personal reasons, and always contributes to the institutes that deal with this. Therefore the eye with the breast cancer symbol; the pink ribbon. The flow was establishes with the circle of the base drum. The little man in the heart is the heart beat of Studio 14. Bouncing the beat away with every drum slam taken. The blooming leaves resemble his prosperity in life, his willingness to show and grow others that cross his path.

About Lenten
I want to create a sense of scrutiny and inquisitiveness, for the spectator to think outside the box, to detect more than the depiction in front of him. I crave to connect to people in a divine manner, to make way to self discovery while exploring beyond the palpable. My first painting was done in 2012, imminent from a dream. I always loved to draw and fooling around with material paint, but never gave thought of doing it on canvas - or if I am honest to myself.....Had the guts to do so My inspiration is an emotional response to what I experience in life. By directing it on canvas I am able to portray what I experience to a more universal language. I find symbolism a great tool to portray my inner feelings, and yet it still enables me to disguise the harshness of some emotions. The symbolism of color as well as the objects used in all the portraits' enhance the meaning beyond the palpable, and only after realising what the true meaning are, beyond what you see, you will be able to understand the intrigue in the true objective. Every canvas I do is based on a specific person, or life experience. While I was discovering what I wanted to do, I distanced myself from the portraits, selecting other people to be represented. I looked at famous people, and rather portrayed them, than showing myself. It was only when I became more relaxed and gained more confidence that I was willing to bring it closer to home.
