About Peter

Peter Sibanda

"I never considered myself an artist, but always knew that I have the ability to draw pictures, it is only when I was introduced to the artworks of Gerald Sekoto, Gorge Pemba and other artists at the Johannesburg Art gallery in 1987, I was inspired."

Born, 1972, Mabopane Northwest province, South Africa.
I am a full time Artist and a postage stamps designer for the South African Post office, I studied art part time at the Johannesburg art gallery from 1987 to 1989, from 1995 I studied fine art full time at the Open Window school of visual communication in Pretoria for three years (1995 to 1997) and obtained a diploma in fine arts and a certificate in visual communication, I began my art career as a full time artist in 1998.

As a Postage stamps designer.
In 2001 I was commissioned for the first time by the South African Post office to design the World summit postage stamp, a canceller and a commemorative envelope. Since 2001 I have designed more than 32 postage stamps, 6 commemorative envelopes and more than 14 cancellers.
