About "Kalahari Grass"

Visiting the Kalahari is a great privilege and being able to combine my photography with oil painting is extremely rewarding. Instead of depicting the animals of Africa, I like to capture the space, openness and grass land. I try to take the viewer into the space in these large canvases and capture a calmness, yet alertness that I feel when in the bush.

About Gill

born in Cape Town,1959.
I am inspired by colour and composition and the application thereof. On the one hand my work is dominated by the application of thick oil paint and brush marks, sometimes mixing media. On the other hand I spend a great deal of time in the bush and my love affair with photography, space,trees and grass is evident in the large canvases that combine photography and oil painting. I try to take the viewer into the space from the position of my creating the oompostion.
