About "Kolmanskop, Namibia" Kolmanskop is a ghost town of the edge of the Namib desert. Build at the height of the diamond rush in the early 1900's, and abandoned to the Namib sands in the 1950's. The buildings still retain remnants of their original grandeur, as they slowly disintegrate under the onslaught of the desert and its scouring sand and intense heat. I tried to capture the lonely dignity of the buildings in the face of the encroaching sands. |
