About "Morning at Face Rock in Clarens"

I went on a painting holiday to Clarens,South Africa. It's a popular spot with artists, and many painting have been completed of this area.
The rocks changed their colours every half hour, or so it seemed, and it was a huge challenge to capture this feeling of strength but with the delicate shades and shadows. I am sure each artist saw it differently!

About Angela Mary

Angela Mary Barker

Light excites me, especially shining through trees, on water and even on fur. I love to travel and see the world through the eyes of the old Masters, particularly the Impressionists.I try and capture that "special place" where the heart can rest for a while, away from the turbulence of our world.
Being a keen musician ( piano and clarinet, and saxophones in various orchestras and groups) I feel I can appreciate the nuances and musical "notes" when the eye travels over the scene I am painting.
I started painting after I retired from Industry, and the best thing I did was to join the Watercolour Society of South Africa, where I made many wonderful friends and I gained my Associate of the Watercolour Society in 2004. I then switched to acrylics, as the speed of execution of each painting and the bright colours appealed to my impatient nature. I currently paint with the Ivy Artists- a group of ex students of Sue Kemp, who have become firm friends and enthusiastic producers of artworks.
