About "Morning Mist on Hentie's Farm"

I was intriqued by the typical set-up of the original homestead bounded by a whitewashed wall and the separate building a little further away for the eldest and married, son.
The farm buildings and the scattering of water are from the original scene. the low ridge behind the new homestead, I have invented.

About Peter

I was raised on a farm in the Oudtshoorn district, which is perhaps why I have such a great love for the outdoors. Whenever I have the rare chance, I try to find some peaceful places along a river where I can sit for hours just to watch the scenery and enjoy the antics of birds and other little creatures.
I eventually realised that the only way to satisfy my longing for nature was to endeavour to create an image thereof by painting it.
I had no formal tuition in the arts and really only started painting seriously from the beginning of 2014 since after moving to my present location I have the use of an upstairs room as a studio.
I love travelling to see new places and had the opportunity on a few occasions to holiday through a number of European countries.
I am also an ardent reader and between my hobbies and work around the garden I find myself a very busy person.
Through my present experience and the joy it has brought me, I wish to say to all of you out there, that if you have any dream and an urge to create something, don't wait for a certain happening to get you started. I believe you can have whatever it is your heart desires. However, there is one condition to acquiring it, and that is, you must want it badly enough. At the beginning of your attempts at painting your efforts may seem crude to others, but to you, it will hold all the beauty of the original scene - and more - for you have put your life into it. Eventually, your enthusiasm and persistence will perfect your work. I say, take the plunge, what is there to lose? You may be very pleasantly surprised at what talent may be awakened within you. If the desire is there then so also will be a latent talent.
