About "Moving On - Step 1C"
The KZNSA Gallery in Durban, South Africa, invited me to participate in an exhibition in 2013 resulting in a Muybridge-insprired sequence of 9 drawings depicting a man descending steps, in charcoal.
Later in 2013, after I'd been experimenting with black and white pictures for another project in Photoshop, it occurred to me that these drawings would lend themselves very well to digital manipulation, and I changed the theme from merely a man descending steps to something that reflected a transition in life as well, moving from what is known and comfortable but also constricting, to something...different.
For me it is a completely new direction and it's got me drawing again, rather than always illustrating what others need, which is still a joy but also my particular comfort zone.... time to expand and grow!

About Savyra
Currently based in Fish Hoek, as an illustrator, designer, cartoonist, visual artist and writer.
After producing 9 pencil drawings - a Muybridge-type sequence of a male nude descending steps, for an 2013 exhibition at the NSA Gallery, Bulwer Road, Durban, I decided to take these drawings into the digital realm and reproduce them as prints in limited editions of 25, in either A3 or A2 sizes.
Also featured on this website is earlier work: my landscape-based murals on panels as well as male nudes and portraits in pencil.
The 'murals' are sometimes portable installations of up to door-sized panels often covering entire walls to transform spaces for corporate or private clients. The murals include organic forms drawn from the clients' initial ideas and interpreted in abstract, stylized or realistic ways tailored to suit the spaces and people involved. Nature and natural forms are my greatest inspiration, especially for my paper sculptures, which can be viewed on dappleshades.com
Pencil is usually used for portraits and male or female nudes, or various combinations of both. I welcome commissions and these do not necessarily have to be done from life; photos are welcome if this is more convenient.
