About "Namibian Mountains"
Nico Roos 1940 - 2008
Born in Kimberley, South Africa. A painter of landscapes and abstract pictures. Worked in oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache and wash, drawed in ink, pencil and charcoal. Studied in Windhoek privately under Otto Schröder, 1960 – 1964 University of Pretoria under Zakkie Eloff and gained a Master of art. 1964 – 1969 further studies under Adolph Jentsch. 1967 – 1968 lecture in history of art at the University of Potchefstroom. From 1969 lecture of art history at the University of Pretoria, where he established the Fine Art Department in 1972 of which he also became Professor. Became a Doctor of Philosophy in 1974 at the University of Pretoria. 1983 Commissioner to the Valparaiso Bienale held in Chile.

Exhibitions: Various group and solo exhibitions in Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
