This painting was inspired by the lyrics:
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.
Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through they can't understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.
Breath deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is gray and yellow white
But we decide which is right and
Which is an Illusion

About Liezel
I am an artist, accountant, bookworm, daughter, sister, wife and mother
I am a full time self-taught artist and attended various art workshops in Cape Town and London. I also have a Finance degree lying somewhere in a cupboard.
My art style is something that took over fourteen years to develop and it is an ongoing learning process. I believe the more I practice the more I like the end result. I wish I was like other artists who get inspired by nature and food and all that jazz but I just paint. That is it! My colour palette are obtained by throwing a dart at my colour wheel and then selecting the complementary or harmonious colours.
I am however obsessed with Gustav Klimt and can feel his passion and love for his work in every inch of his gold-infused paintings. I also left a piece of my soul in the Italian cathedrals dipped in gold-leaf.
My hobbies are:
- painting
- reading
- music
- Classical, Italian and French
- drinking tea and collecting vintage teacups
- I also have a passion for reading books about legendary artists
My art can be found in homes and offices from Cape Town to Johannesburg and London.
