About Fil
Fil's inspiration and passion comes from God's creation, word and everyday life! She approaches her work with a spirit of joy in creating something from nothing. As in life, art is a journey of constant learning and an awareness that the greatest masterpiece of your being is always at work.
Fil was born in Johannesburg in 1961 (nee Christofilia Dellas) and grew up in Congo, Greece and Zimbabwe where she completed her schooling and training. Her love of art began from an early age, attending extra art lessons with well known Zimbabwean Greek artist Helen Lieros. Fil trained at studio 1 Graphics with Jim Spencer in Commercial Art and Design. Her early career was in graphic design and illustrating for various publishing and printing firms. Her art career has been colorful , winning various awards and completing some fun projects, and numerous commission works including painting a landscape on a life-size cow made of fiberglass for the Cape Cow Carnival in 2001. Fil's paintings hang in private collections in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Greece, Italy, England, Scotland and New Zealand. Fil exhibits annually at Kirstenbosch Gardens with the Constantiaberg Art Society and has been invited several times to exhibit in a small group at The Lindberg Art Foundation in Muizenberg. She had her first successful solo exhibition in 2004 from her home studio and in 2008 at the Masque Theatre. In 2006 Fil began teaching oil painting to adult beginners. This journey is very rewarding to Fil as all her students are inspired and encouraged to create in this beautiful medium.
