About "Pearl lady"

The painting of the Pearl Lady was inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s Het meisje met de parel. Note that there is a resemblance to the girl’s facial expression but the colours used were changed intentionally. Making use of warm colours is a trademark of the artist.

About Anna

Anna Sophia Aletta Johanna van Zyl, an Educational Psychologist, studied art under guidance of Elize Olivier, Beau Art, Jeffreys Bay. She prefers working in acrylic, water colours and oil pastels. She also does pen sketches.

Anna finds her inspiration in the country life surroundings of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. She also loves doing replicas of the old masters.
