About "Please"

Mostly I concentrate on the eyes when I do a portrait. Eyes are the windows of our souls. I wanted to capture a quality of softness in her eyes. An instant in time when she is without guard and asking the viewer to be kind.

Hi, I'm Hanli! I am a South African artist who lives right on the beach in a small seaside village close to the most southern point of Africa. Welcome to my world!

A bit about my art:
I love doing portraits and women are my favourite subject. All paintings are done in oil (unless otherwise stated) and on the best available stretched canvas. I paint from an emotional point. Therefore, my paintings are not always beautiful, but neither is life. I firmly believe that art needs to touch the soul. I wish for my art to evoke strong emotions in whoever views it. It gives me great joy to create it and without it, I would be half a person. I do hope that you will find some joy in it too. Or even sadness. As long as it touches you in some way!
