Reference spa-lady.jpg About "Portrait of a Young Woman" This drawing is from a series of chalk pastel portraits. The model was a beautiful young woman with great soul in her eyes. Chalk pastel is one of my most favourite media, there is so much you can do with it, so many marks you can make: from soft creamy colours, delicate smudges to harsh strident strokes. What I wanted to achieve with these portraits was to suggest the whole without drawing everything. For example, the woman's shirt is outlined and is deliberately incomplete. |
