About "Proud"

I travelled India at the end of 2006. We went up high into the northern parts of India. One night we attended a religious festival. This man came up to me and stared at me as if he has never seen another human being from another culture. My friend who speaks Hindi later explained that some has never seen other races and with my black hair he thought I was a goddess. His characteristic face, his eyes and vibrant colors inspired me to paint him.

About Chris

Chris Litschka

Karen Blixen wrote: " If I know a song of Africa - I thought - of the giraffe, and the African new moon lying on her back, of the ploughs in the fields, and the sweaty faces of the coffee-pickers, does Africa know a song of me? Would the air over the plain quiver with a color that I had on, or the children invent a game in which my name was, or the full moon throw a shadow over the gravel of the drive that was like me, or would the eagles of Ngong look out for me?"

The richness of Africa has always been an inspiration to me. The richness of growth, the vibrant colors, the freshness of fragrances. The people, the wild animals, the winds, the music.

Bringing this richness of our lovely Africa to the world - "a passage outside the range of imagination, but within the range of experience."

I use my art to express the soul of this beautiful country.
