About "Roses in a Glass Bowl"

The beautiful colours of the roses in the garden inspired me to paint and capture this in a still life. This work was done in detail trying to capture the light on the glass bowl.

About Carol

Carol Koonin

I am inspired by the wonderful works of the great masters. The amazing colours in nature and the human figure. Art is a wonderful journey, always striving but never reaching the final goal, we never stop learning. As far back as I can remember I have been drawing and painting. After qualifying as a dress designer at the Natal Technical College, I ran my own designing business for many years, but my love of art took over and I began at the Art Foundation in Johannesburg. My favourite subject is the Human figure, although I do paint still life, landscape and abstract. I try to capture the mood of the scene and the expressions on peoples faces. Every face tells a story. I have paintings in private collections in South Africa, Australia, Canada, America, and in the Consulate General's office in Peurto Rico.
