About "Self Destruction"

Depiction of the utter futility of a sectarian & religious civil war spanning back centuries. Humanity lost - again.
Hatred between Syria's religious groups, pitching the Sunni Muslim majority against the president's Shia Alawite sect.
Such divisions have led both sides to commit atrocities, torn communities apart and dimmed hopes of peace, with over 550,000 dead or missing.
In addition jihadist groups Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda have flourished.
Syria's Kurds, who want the right of self-government but have not fought Mr Assad's forces, have added another dimension to the conflict.

Style: Expressionism, Realism
Original Artwork with Certificate of Authenticity.
Price includes worldwide shipping costs.

About Alan James

Alan James Weiss

I am an artist/painter, & a creative spirit at heart. My style, based as it is on the Golden Age of Dutch painting, and my studio is based in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa.

My passion for art began at the age of 14 years, and although my primary career was spent in the fields of design & architecture, I reignited my passion for oil painting in 2012 and have since been building a career as a professional artist, with a focus on figurative portraits, wildlife, and landscapes. While my work is realistic and representative in nature, I am not limited to any specific style or subject matter, and I often explore new techniques and ideas to keep my art fresh and exciting.

I paint primarily in oils on linen canvas.

My art is deeply rooted in my life experiences, and my latest figurative work is biased towards social & historical issues. I hope that my paintings inspire and connect with others on a personal level. As an artist, I believe that my work is not complete until it resonates with the viewer and evokes an emotional response with a direct connection to their own life experience.

My work is represented internationally by SAATCHI ART, by ARTOUI gallery in Germany, and by OCCHI CONTEMPORARY ART in London & New York,
