About Charl

Charl Fourie

Charl Fourie graduated from the Technikon Pretoria in 1991, with a National Diploma in Fine Arts, achieving distinctions in Painting, Printmaking and Drawing. He is awarded the Dr Anderson Bursary for Outstanding Results. He exhibited at the "Volkskas New Signatures" Exhibition in Pretoria, and wins a Gold Award for his Oil painting titled "African Madonna and Child". Charl continues to produce etchings after moving to Sabie in Mpumalanga in 1991. He started his interior decorating business under "Charl Fourie Studios" and specialised in special painting techniques. He also produces custom made objects d'art from resin castings, which eventually became a range of finials and tie backs. Charl's curiosity to express his creativity with new mediums soon had him working with wood and wrought iron, where he masters the age old blacksmith techniques used in the Middle Ages. Clients include Sir Richard Branson and Jenna Clifford. His love for Oil Painting has Charl painting full time again since 2009, and he draws his inspiration from the Africa surrounding him. He is hugely inspired by the nature in the Kruger Park, a mere 30 minutes away from his studio. He currently lives in Hazyview with his wife and two children.
