About Louise

Louise Twiggs

I have always had a passion for nature and the environment. My paintings express my interest and love of our beautiful indigenous flora and fauna and of nature in general. I find great challenge in trying to do justice to their beauty, and in recording them through the medium of watercolour.
I love the crisp, clarity of watercolour, which is why it is my medium of choice.
I have been tutored by the likes of Ann Harris, and the late Diana Carmichael, both accomplished South African botanical artists in their own right.
I was very proud to be awarded a Bronze medal for my first entry to the Kirstenbosch Biennale Exhibition 2010.
My goal is to awaken the public to the intricate beauty of our indigenous flora and fauna and hopefully to inspire people want to protect and preserve them for future generations.
