About Lariza

Lariza van Emmenis (born in 1977), had a lively interest in art since early childhood. After she matriculated, she began a full-time career in art, following in the footsteps of her mother and mentor, well-known artist Paula van Emmenis. She works mainly in oils and acrylic, on canvas. Her work also includes paintings on ostrich eggs, leather, slate, and wood. The wide variety of South African fauna and flora serves as her main source of inspiration. Her favorite wildlife theme is the beautiful big cats of Africa, especially the lion, leopard and cheetah. Lariza enjoys portraying her subjects in realistic colors, with attention to depth and detail. But she also loves experimenting with different media, often adding a very contemporary effect to her paintings with texture, as well as rich and vivid colors.
Apart from private collections, Larizas work can be found in corporate collections of various institutions and embassies, and she has exported many of her paintings to the USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Her art is permanently on show in numerous South African galleries.
