About Amanda

Amanda Yearsley

I studied Fine Art at the University of Salford (formerly Salford Technical College)and Studio and Technical Ceramics at Chesterfield College of Arts and Technology. After my studies I worked in the heavy clay industry on the technical side and as the company resident artist/sculptor working on projects of various sizes. After leaving the heavy clay industry to re-locate to the north of England in 1992 I set up my own studio pottery and taught ceramics till 1995.

I arrived in South Africa from England in 1995 with the intention of staying six months to travel. After visiting Zimbabwe and traveling from Johannesburg to Cape Town I was completely in love with everything about South Africa. I find it such an inspiring country and love nothing more than packing my camera and going off exploring, be it the african bush or a small rural town.

All of my work is inspired by my travels. I love studying wildlife and find working in pencil allows the animals to be seen for themselves, pure and honestly with no distractions. I enjoy working in a large format and most of the original drawings are done on a large scale (A1).

I am a member of Artist Working Together (AWT) and have been involved in various exhibitions. In 2008 I was chosen as one of the top 95 artist in the Ekurhuleni National Fine Arts Award.

Recently I have had very high quality prints made of my work. These print are now available in various sizes ranging from A1 - A4 All prices shown are for A1 prints.
