Reference SAC100029 About "Skull 1" I was in Nieu Bethesda and we were experiencing severe droughts in the Karoo for a number of years. This skull was hanging on the outer wall of the guest house where I was staying and in the late afternoon, the long shadows cast over the skull reminded me of the sombre atmosphere caused by the drought, where lives were shattered and ended. This painting serves a constant reminder of how fragile our lives are and how quickly and quietly things can change. |

I lived in multiple places across South Africa and travelled some. Until recently I followed a full time career in tax law, but in 2023 have settled in Loxton, Northern Cape, to now find more time to live my passion for art. The old masters, especially Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Titian inspire me. I love wildlife, nature and people and believe that my dedication for capturing my inspired moments reflect through my art. I am a keen photographer and often paint from my photographs, with each painting telling a story of its own.
