About "Sterilitzia"

typical road side scene in South Africa. African pots used on fires to cook traditional food. Traveling throughout South Africa you will come across the African People cooking their food in these pots on open fires. I chose this scene to paint as it keeps me reminded of the difficult times our people still have in this country.

About Francois

Born in 1967 in Delmas (Mpumalanga), Francois Jooste had no formal training but showed an early talent for drawing and painting. He grew-up in Mapumalanga and moved to Pretoria in 1988. When he won an art competition in 2001 with his first painting ever, he pursued his love of painting.
He was inspired by French Impressionist Monet and Munro and Nic van Rensburg from South Africa but believes that it is an God[0x1]s given talent. He sold his first painting in 2006 and many more after that. Since September 2008, he has held annual solo-exhibitions.
Today, Francois is known for his figurative and floral works as well as portraits and commissioned artwork are proudly displayed by owners across South Africa.
He paints only in Oils and his subject matter varies widely ranging from Landscapes, Seascapes, Wildlife, Figure Studies, Flower Studies, Still Life, Steam Engines. Sizes of paintings vary from Small works to Large Completely self-taught.
