About "Still Life with Butterflies and Book"

This piece is a twist on a vanitas still life. The temporary characteristic of all things besides literature and art is emphasised. Butterflies, though we ironically seek to store their beauty and lifelikeness in glass frames- ultimately have died. Glasses are fragile and break. Fruit will decay. But words from books can be remembered.

My name is Chante Lucy Wearing. I have a passion for art. I have always believed that art speaks louder than words. My art is about saying something and capturing beauty I see in the world - it is a way for me to express myself and sometimes capture the beauty I see in those around me.
