About "Stone"
Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it - Michelangelo
This famous quote from Michelangelo was the inspiration for this painting. In high relief I made a stamp, the stamp of approval. I can only imagine him standing in front of a slab of marble and giving it the stamp! Mixed media including gold leafing.

About Christel
Hi there
I grew up in Pretoria East. After school, I started my career as an Environmental Control Officer. Over the course of the next few years, I would work managing a Game Capture Team, and Managed a Game farm.
After working as an Industrial Engineering Draughtsman for 10 years, I chose a more creative path. I started with a variety of art mediums but have narrowed it down to painting, carving, macram[0xC3A9] and pewter.
Art for me is about telling a story. A blank canvas in front of an artist is both an adventure and a challenge. An adventure because you get to create something from scratch and a challenge because you don't always know how it's going to turn out. I guess it's this mystery that keeps me returning to the canvas.
I also work on commission, creating distinct pieces that will tell your story.
